GREEN CARD

It is a card that certifies a person to have a permanent residence in the United States.

Owning one is vitally important, as it is a super special permit that accredits people to be able to live and work permanently in the United States.

Permanent Residence

There are different ways and mechanisms to obtain it and thus be able to enjoy a full and permanent residence with all the benefits that it entails.

One of these methods of obtaining a Permanent American Residence, and in fact one of the most common, is through marriage.

For the latter, an application for marriage residency and an adjustment of status must be filed with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, or USCIS. This immigration agent stipulates the following requirements and documents to be able to carry out this process in an optimal and successful way:

  • Copy of the marriage certificate.
  • Fill out form I-130.
  • If required, a copy of the divorce certificate or death certificate. In short, any document that proves that all marriages prior to the present have come to an end, either yours or your spouse’s.
  • Passport type photos.
  • Copy of valid US passport, if you are a US citizen.
  • Copy of birth and citizenship certificate, if you are a US citizen.

The waiting time to obtain the Green Card of Permanent Residence usually takes between 4 and 5 months, in the case of obtaining it through marriage it is 5 months.

You can also apply for a Green Card, as a citizen of the United States, for a family member, such as a child. In order to do this, you must make the request by filling out form I-130, which serves as a petition for a foreign relative; Form I-864 for an Affidavit of Economic Sponsorship; and form I-485 for the application for Permanent Residence or Adjustment of Status.

In the event of a Green Card loss, it can be recovered by filing the I-90 Application to Replace a Permanent Resident Card.

If the request is approved, a replacement Card with an expiration date of 10 years will be mailed to you.

The Green Card can be replaced if the card was lost, lost or destroyed, if you have made name changes or any other biographical information and therefore the content of your card is incorrect, if it was issued before the age of 14 and it is fulfilling now, among other reasons more; the ones mentioned above are the most common.

In certain cases there are people who do not pay the fee for their requests and requests, many people can choose this benefit. In what way? People can only opt for this benefit if they are receiving a federal or state benefit, if they live in a household with an income not exceeding 150% of the poverty line or if they are experiencing a bad economic situation, which may be due to to a recent dismissal or payment of bills, usually of a medical nature.

In this way, with work and patience, you can opt for a Permanent Residency card that allows you to live and work permanently in the United States and enjoy its sovereignty, keep in mind that patience is the basis of all processes well managed and that the results are more than gratifying.
